WOLFGANG AMADEUS MOZART - THE LIFE
|
1756
The son of Leopold Mozart, concertmaster at the archiepiscopal Salzburg court, and Anna Maria is born on January 27 at 8pm. The following day he is christened in the Cathedral of Salzburg as Joannes Chrysostomus Wolfgangus Theophilus (in Latin Amadeus).
The Mozart family lives in a flat on the third floor at number 9 Getreidegasse, consisting of a kitchen, a small room, a living room, a bedroom (where Amadeus was born) and a study.
1759
Wolfangang's first musical activities, learnt from "Pour le clavecin", a notebook of musical exercises, composed by his father Leopold for his sister Nannerl, five years older than Wolfgang.
1761
Wolfgang makes his first documented public appearance as a male dancer in a Latin school comedy in the university's Aula Magna. His first composition, a Minuet for Harpsichord (KV1), dates back to this year. His father tutors both Wolfgang and his sister Nannerl not only in music, but also in the main subjects. For this reason neither ever has regular schooling.
